How To: Moss Wall Art 🌿

Updated: Jun 3, 2023

A few weeks ago, our arts & crafts group made these beautiful moss wall art picture frames...perfect to hang in a garden, on your balcony or as bedroom decor.

What we used:

I ordered these kits from Etsy which included everything we needed.

The kit includes:

  • a variety of naturally preserved moss, lichen, ferns and flowers

  • a 6x6, 8x8, 10x10, or a 12x12 inch pine wood frame (pictured is 6x6)

  • a sawtooth hook

  • instructions and moss guidelines

  • glue gun and a pack of glue can be added for $4.99

Optional: you may want to buy some paint to paint the wood frame. I used this paint from Michaels which dried quickly and came out beautifully.

Step 1: We started by hammering the sawtooth hook into the back of the frame for hanging

Step 2: Then, we painted the frame using this paint from Michaels

Step 3: After the paint dried, we organized the moss into the frame until we were happy with how it looked (without gluing it). Once we had it the way we wanted, we took a picture to reference for when we start gluing

Step 4: Finally, we emptied the frame and put the moss back in place (referencing our picture) with the hot glue gun

We completed this from start to finish in about 90 minutes. This is a great spring project that makes for some nice wall decor!
