What is Digital Planning and Why You Should Switch

Digital planning is a great alternative to paper planning. It comes in a Portable Document Format (PDF), which you can annotate (or “write on”) using a PDF annotator or planning app like Goodnotes, Notability or Noteshelf.

Here's why you should consider switching to digital planning:

It's fully customizable

Do you want to manage your to-do list, notes and reminders all on one page so you can easily reference them all at once? Or maybe you want to create a scrapbook right next to where you journal. The pages can be completely customized to your lifestyle and needs.

There are thousands of templates you can find on Etsy, as well as in my shop. If you can't find a pre-made template that suits your needs, you can always have one customized.

You can be as creative (or not) as you want

When it comes to paper planners, you can only work with the colors, markers or pens you have on hand.

With digital planning, the options are endless. You can decorate with endless colors, shapes and stickers. You don't have to worry about making a mistake because you can easily undo or erase anything. This is great for anyone who wants to explore their creativity without the worry of having to start all over again.

It's searchable

Have you ever searched through pages of your journal or planner to find that one note you needed from a few moths ago? Digital planning allows you to search your notes. With note taking apps like Goodnotes, you can easily search handwritten notes for words or phrases to find anything you need.

It's private

If you're like me, you find peace of mind knowing your private notes and thoughts are kept secure. Since your tablet can be locked, you can always feel assured knowing that your journals are private to you.

It's shareable

If you have a grocery list or recipe book that you want to share with your family members, digital planning makes it easy to share lists across devices. Goodnotes has an option to share and unshare specific notebooks so everyone can collaborate on the same list!

It can be cheaper

If you are someone who likes to buy lots of different colored pens, planners for different years, etc. this could save you money since you only need your tablet, stylus and a PDF template.

Goodnotes offers free templates in their app, but as mentioned above there are thousands you can find on Etsy if you want something more specific.

It's eco-friendly

This one is self explanatory, but definitely worth noting. You won't have tons of papers scattered around your home, and you'll have one organized place where all your notes are saved.

Overall digital planning is such a fun way to keep everything together in one place. If you're thinking about switching to digital planning, check out this post for what you'll need to get started!
